The number (1) as the third digit in the machine number indicates that the machine was fitted at the factory with a 1000 rpm gearbox with a 1.53:1 ratio.
The number (2) as the third digit in the machine number indicates that the machine was fitted at the factory with a 1000 rpm gearbox with a 2:1 ratio.
If there is no number then the machine was originally fitted with a 540 rpm gearbox with a 2.54:1 ratio.
